Facebook recently rolled out an update to Questions that makes it easier to ask and respond to questions from people and Pages on Facebook. As of March 24, 2011, you can use Questions on your Facebook Page.

According to Facebook’s official page:

The updated Questions product allows people and Page owners to ask structured, lightweight questions to friends and fans, similar to publishing a simple poll. Questions are now easier and faster to answer. People can agree with an existing answer with a single click, or they can add a different response. This makes it easy for many more people to respond to your questions so you can learn more from and engage with the people connected to your Page. Page admins can choose to ask or answer questions on the site. You also always have the option to remove the Questions tab from their Page at any time.

To use this feature on your pages, you must “opt-in” to the application here.

How does Questions work? According to Facebook, the whole notion is that Questions is designed so that anyone on Facebook can help you find the answer. In other words, when you ask a question, your friends can answer or follow, then their friends can see and answer it, too and so on.

The touted “features” of this application is threefold:

  • Learn from you friends
  • See where people stand on an issue
  • Share what you know

If you are an admin on any Facebook page, the next time you log in and visit one of the pages, you will see a notice at the top of your profile page that looks like this:

Here are some of the most noted changes/new features in the new Facebook Fan Page:

SHOWCASE YOUR LATEST PHOTOS:
Similar to what is now the standard on your personal Facebook profile, you can do the same on a Fan page. Unlike your personal profile, only person with admin access can tag an image.  Finally, on this issue, remember that images appear left to right, based on newest to oldest.

DISPLAY PAGE ADMINS:
Before, no one but the admins of a fan page knew who the Admins were. With the new page, all Admins are displayed in the right hand sidebar.

USE FACEBOOK AS YOUR PAGE:
Facebook now lets you switch between your personal profile and  your fan page. Before, you had to call up your fan page in the search browser. But now you can simply click and switch.

GET NOTIFICATIONS OF FAN PAGE ACTIVITY
One of the most requested fan page features is now a reality. Once you have upgraded to the new version, you will be able to receive notifications about activity on your page, see stories from the pages you like in your news feed, and interact with other pages as your page.

To see how what the new features are, simply click on the Take A Tour button.

The News Feed on each wall is the first thing that Facebook users see when they log into their account.

Facebook uses News Feeds to let users see the latest activities completed by their friends. This includes their own posts and activities as well as the activities of their network of friends.

This feature is what propels the viral distribution of information on Facebook and can result in hundreds of thousands of people learning about anything on Facebook in just a matter of days. The way it works is that whatever is posted to a user’s wall, is seen by their friends. In turn, it is also seen by the friends of their friends etc.

How does having a Fan page benefit from this feature? Once you set up a Fan page, anyone who “becomes a fan” or “likes” your page, will see anything you post to your Fan page wall then, the viral distribution as described above will follow.

Naturally, the more “fans” or “followers” you have for your Facebook Page, the more viral your content will go so, exploiting the benefits of the News Feed feature will go a long way in increasing the number of “fans” and spreading your message to the highest number of Facebook users.
